I just now got a press release from Chet Edwards' office asking media to attend a press conference with Waco-area college students and college presidents to discuss the $11.9 billion cut in student aid recently passed by Congress.
(WASHINGTON, DC) - U.S. Representative Chet Edwards will hold a press conference Thursday February 23rd with area college students and college presidents to speak out against $11.9 billion in cuts to federal college student financial aid over the next five years, the largest reduction in federal student aid in our nation's history. The controversial bill narrowly passed the U.S. House this month by a vote of 216 to 214. The Senate passed it by a vote of 51-50, with Vice President Cheney casting the tie-breaking vote.
I presume that the veep voted for this before he shot a guy in the face. Otherwise, it would have been a silly political move.

Who: Rep. Edwards joins Dennis Michaelis, President MCC, Elton Stuckley, President TSTC-Waco, and students from MCC, TSTC and Baylor who will give testimonials on the impact of the cuts.

I guess I'll be there, ready to pretend I'm a real journalist with business cards and everything.
