The power of Pat compels you!
I don't want to say Pat Robertson is a crazy fuck nut, but...
"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: if there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected Him from your city," He went on to say, "And don't wonder why He hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for His help because he might not be there,"
Wow. Pat curses a whole town because they want to obey the Constitution. That's, uh, something.
Crazy religious bastards aren't limited to Virginia Beach. No, thanks to my buddyblogger Dick I found out about a group of Baptists in Kansas (what is the matter with Kansas?)
"OKLAHOMA CITY – With her 6-year-old son wearing a shirt saying, "God hates homosexuals," Shirley Phelps-Roper greeted mourners attending a slain soldier's funeral in Edmond this week with signs predicting the downfall of America.
Ms. Phelps-Roper was one of a handful of members of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., at Tuesday's funeral Army Pfc. David Martin. The church members, who have protested soldiers' funerals in Oklahoma and elsewhere, say God is punishing U.S. soldiers for defending a country that harbors gays." --Associated Press
Can we please all agree that these crazy people should no longer have a say in what we as a country do? I mean, we have freedom of religion so that government can't tell us what to believe, but also so that religion can't tell government what to do.
These people may be on the fringes, but they espouse beliefs similar to what the rest of the religious right profess. They just lack subtlety.
We're already beginning to see that this isn't just anti-gay hysteria. These people want to control everyone's lives. When they're done banning gay marriage, they'll meddly in straight marriages until everyone does what they say. A small group of people dictating what we as a people can and cannot do is not democracy. That's fascism, the exact same kind of fascism that we see in Iran.
We shouldn't have to tolerate it, but we do. The least we can do is to stop giving them the keys to the store and letting them run everything.
I can count on you to tell me about some crazies in Kansas. Geez. Poor Pfc. Martin's family. Wonder what the hell they were thinking when (or if) they saw that nut job and her kid. Like they didn't have enough to deal with already. GWB has created a quagmire in America. All the crazy religious maniacs are coming out of the woodwork. Not like I'm a pessimist, but I think it'll get worse before it gets better. To boot we've got 3 more years of this shit to contend with.
