Not quite a blog roundup

There is some interesting commentary on the Roberts hearing, though, oddly enough, I've seen very little in the way of the "responsibility" taking quote from earlier today. Is the liberal blogosphere avoiding it? Did they just not watch CNN? I don't know.

I'm just glad I got to say "Good job, President Bush" just once in the past 4 1/2 years.

Ezra wonders at Sen. Sessions IQ. I think I have to agree. I also have to agree that Russ Feingold is the most articulate senator on the committee and I hope this is great exposure for a possible '08 run. Don't let us down Russ!

Over at AmericaBlog, Michael in New York writes the headline "John Roberts: Ignore Almost Everything I've Written." That does seem to be his answer for everything, and the guys at MyDD think that the pressing Feingold did proves we need Roberts to be more open to answering the questions put to him.

The Campaign for the Court blog at the WashingtonPost.com has this interesting exchange during Sen. Biden's questioning.

Biden interrupted. Sen. Specter, the committee chairman, asked him to refrain.

"The answers are misleading," Biden said.

"The answers may be misleading but they are his answers," Specter said.

To his credit, Roberts immediately said his answers weren't misleading, but Specter obviously didn't think before he said anything. That is going to be the quote of the day somewhere. Check out the blog, they have video.

13. “Senator, my answer is that the independence and integrity of the Supreme Court requires that nominees before this committee for a position on that court not forecast, give predictions, give hints about how they might rule in cases…”

I guess it is important we have no idea how a person would rule before we give him a lifetime appointment.
