HB 3 is dead for the session. Like some of us thought, it just was not meant to be. Or more precisely, some didn't want it to be so they made it as difficult as possible to accomplish.
Tomorrow morning, the stories are probably going to read that Speaker Craddick still holds the most cards and Gov. Perry has said he will call everyone back to Austin for another go. But I still don't see how this gets done before the Texas Supreme Court makes a ruling. Congratulations, these are the people you elected to represent you.
We only asked them to do one thing this year, get school financing done. But they couldn't do it. So they called a month-long special session. They still couldn't do it. These have got to be the most useless people on the planet. I know we don't pay them much, but still, they could do some actual work. The only thing they did accomplish was to make gay marriage illegal... again!
It's enough to drive a blogger to drink. You know, if I wasn't at work.
