I stumble on to something

It just so happens that I have read the new Paul Burka Behind the Lines column for next month. How? Never you mind. I have to say I'm seriously tempted to link to it, but I'm not going to. You'll be able to read it soon enough.

Suffice it to say I enjoy Texas Monthly. Aside from the ads (which I'm very jealous of, sorry that's an inside joke), I find it to be a good magazine. And I consider Evan Smith a friend, and not just because he wrote a column about me. He's a good guy with years of experience in journalism.

But Paul Burka is an idiot.

I'm reading this column where he talks about Perry's 180 in terms of leadership. What leadership, Paul? I haven't seen actual results. I haven't seen a good school financing plan that has passed both houses and been signed by the governor. I've seen basically the same crap on a different day and Speaker that didn't want a special session and could leave any compromise in the dust.

He may be in a "flurry of activity" but it is much ado about nothing and I'm surprised Burka already wrote a column giving him kudos for accomplishing something that hasn't happened yet. I'll print a retraction if it turns out I'm wrong and Perry's pulled together two warring factions to get something done. But I'm feeling pretty confident that it's not going to be an issue.

Read the same BS about Perry, Craddick and Dewhurst, concerning power and leadership in Texas, by Paul Burka. Where has he been? Eating too many tacos from lobbyists I am sure. Paul needs to travel in Texas and meet "other" Tejanos'; maybe Paul is not at the idiot level, but surely one of the misinformed, which is ironic! JLH
