They couldn't do it in the Senate, so they'll do it while the Senate is in recess.
Unlike a lot of liberals, I'm not going to kvetch about recess appointments. Sometimes they are necessary, and I'm not going to point out just how many people have gotten recess appointments from this administration. I'm just going to say that we probably need a UN ambassador, so no argument here.
The problem is the guy they've backed. Number one, John Bolton is a jackass. Number two, his mustache is also a jackass. And number three, he may have committed perjury.
In his questionnaire to the Senate, he did not disclose that he gave testimony (or was interviewed) by the inspector general in the Joint State-CIA IG report on the Niger uranium document forgeries. His questionnaire apparently came with an affidavit affirming that he was telling truth. But he wasn't. So he gets a recess appointment as Ambassador to the UN.
Why would you lie about something like that? I don't know. But I'm starting to suspect that Republicans have a pathological need to lie or distort reality. I just can't come up with anything else to explain it.
