Richard Morrison conference call
7:00 Nathan Wilcox, Richard's campaign consultant, thinks they'll win in a primary challenge. The kind of numbers we've seen out of TX-22 lead me to believe he's right. Besides, Richard's the only guy who's actually in the district.
7:15 Richard just joined us. He was coaching a little league game.
7:17 We're talking about other Republicans that need challenging in the bay area.
7:23 I've just asked what the liklihood of DeLay having a primary challenger is. Not too good, after all he is the Hammer.
7:25 Fund-raising seems OK
7:28 Hey! Gov Dean is committed to coming down and helping Richard out. It's all about being a partisan Democrat, never mind the liberal or conservative labels
7:31 Now its policy. Richard is pro-Life and believes sex ed should be "grounded in abstinence" but should be real education. He also thinks that government should not try to make abortion illegal. Very moderate-type of positions, just what you'd expect in Texas.
7:34 We need to work on the Medicare answer
7:37 But Tom DeLay is an idiot so we're still good.
7:40 I get to bring up the judiciary. "he carries around a copy of the Constitution in his pocket. I think he ought to pull it out and read it." Priceless.
7:41 Apparently DeLay is holding a Social Security misinformation session in the morning.
7:45 Now we're talking about drug discount cards and the high price of prescriptions.
7:47 He's a man after my own heart. He thinks it is waste of time for the gay marriage amendments.
7:57 We're talking media strategy now. My cup of tea.
8:00 We're using Risk as an analogy for why DeLay is spread too thin. These are my people.
8:06 And we end on my question about the Wst Wing and one on the importance of wind energy.
Nathan has you a bit misinformed about the situation in District 22. Congressman Nick Lampson, whose former district now lies in District 22, has stated intentions on running. So has Gordon Quan, who, while not living in the district, serves on a body (Houston city council) that affects both Fort Bend and Harris counties.
