Let the dog orgy begin: Gay marriage edition

So the poor Republicans couldn't even muster 50 votes to turn a large percentage of the population into second-class citizens through defamation of the Constitution. That's not surprising, least of all to the Republicans.

Wing-nuts like Rick "man having sex with a dog" Santorum know they are far to the right of everyone in this country and they know that their social policies will never be accepted by the mainstream public. Guess what, they public is not supposed to.

It's all part of their diabolical plan. That sounds a little conspiratorial, but I assure you it is not. The Right really only has one objective...money.

This kind of pandering to evangelical homophobia is not supposed to pass or become law, it's just there to take our minds off the staggering job losses and inequalities in socioeconomic standings of minorities and WASP men. It's about Republicans getting more money for Republicans. The evangelical and fundamentalists are only around for the votes.

Those same religiosos can be counted on to vote Republican everytime, even when voting Republican means less money for them and their families. The Republicans just have to say the magic word, God. Say that and you can do whatever you want to these people. They'll keep themselves ignorant and afraid so you don't have to, and they will gladly give up all their money.

So don't rejoice yet. We got snookered into a debate that didn't mean anything anyway. The real test comes in November when we see if there are enough non-fundamentalist people out there to take back the White House and Congress and start reframe these issues so that everyone benefits.
